Leeds Seacroft: How PLX Pipework Improved Safety & Reduced Maintenance

Replacing Corroded Pipework with Durable Polyethylene - (Tesco Forecourt, Leeds Seacroft).

Client

At the Leeds Seacroft forecourt, Berrys Technologies led a comprehensive infrastructure renewal project to replace ageing, corroded fuel pipework with a high-integrity, low-maintenance solution. The project involved the rapid installation of over 900 metres of PLX dual-contained polyethene pipework, replacing the original steel pipes and threaded connectors that had become susceptible to corrosion and joint failure.

To support the upgrade, Berrys’ retro chambers were installed in place of the damaged fibreglass chambers, restoring full ground-level containment functionality. Additionally, Retro Mono chambers were welded, ensuring a durable, sealed installation that reduces long-term maintenance and enhances environmental protection.

This solution improved both safety and operational reliability across the site by delivering:

Corrosion-free fuel transfer infrastructure, extending asset lifespan

Reduced risk of leakage, thanks to fully welded, dual-contained assemblies

Minimal downtime during installation, with efficient modular deployment

By integrating advanced materials with proven engineering practices, Berrys Technologies once again demonstrated its capability to modernise ageing forecourt systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, environmental safety, and long-term operational resilience for leading fuel retailers like Tesco.
