How Tesco Risca Achieved a Safer, More Efficient Fuel Transfer Infrastructure.

Streamlining Fuel Transfer Infrastructure Through Integrated Delivery- (Tesco Forecourt, Risca)

Client

As part of Tesco’s ongoing investment in operational safety and delivery efficiency, Berrys Technologies was commissioned to design and supply a bespoke, modular fuel transfer system for the forecourt at Tesco Risca.

The brief required developing a versatile above-ground delivery station capable of accepting standard road tanker drops while maintaining the highest standards of safety, uptime, and spill prevention. Berrys responded with an integrated pumping solution featuring ATEX-certified cargo pumps and a unique, dual-manifold configuration.

This dual-pump setup ensures system continuity: in the unlikely event of a mid-delivery pump failure, a partnering pump can be seamlessly engaged to complete the transfer safely and without delay. The solution also includes a manual valve manifold, enabling operators to fully empty the delivery hose, eliminating any risk of pressurised fuel retention that could pause or interrupt the operation.

Additionally, the pump station enclosure is engineered with a containment basin that directs any minor drips or spills into the forecourt separator via a dedicated drainage feed, minimising environmental impact and supporting regulatory compliance.

Through this custom-built installation, Tesco Risca benefits from:

Improved delivery uptime, even during faults.

Safer site operations through controlled hose drainage and pump redundancy.

Environmental protection, via integrated spill containment and separator linkage.

Delivered in full by Berrys Technologies, this solution demonstrates the company's strength in designing smart, modular forecourt systems that improve safety, reliability, and compliance across retail fuel operations.
